Building upon the exhibition @stories_of_victoria held in December of last year, “Told by the Soil - Stories of Victoria II: Colour Mining” showcases Carol Lee Mei-kuen’s continued exploration of primary soil – From collecting soil from Bonham Road, Carol sieved and ground the primary soil, examined the colours it contained, and produced 100 different pigments. She also created a unique set of printmaking inks from these hard-won pigments and produced a series of relief prints.

Time has always been the motif of Carol’s art. Above the horizon, sunlight leaves traces of time on paper. Below the horizon, the primary soil stays hidden and unchanged by the passing centuries. Both are witnessed of the building up and layering of time.
