Every press in HKOP tells a story of Hong Kong print art. We treasure the fact that we have been able to acquire these important pieces of Hong Kong history, and are committed to preserving and managing our local cultural heritage and giving it new life.
Reassembling Movable Types
Movable type printing is one of the world’s oldest printing techniques. In 2017 and 2018, we recruited volunteers to help reorganise and clean a group of movable types housed in our Print Lab.
HKGAF2016 – The Story of Movable Type
Hong Kong Graphic Art Fiesta 2016 – The Story of Movable Type, illustrates the evolution of print art from a printing industry to a creative industry through a display of artefacts from these three presses.
HKOP Archive: Open Day & Exhibition
Launched in October 2018, the HKOP Archive holds works from artists at home and abroad. These works of print culture not only embody enduring historical and cultural values, but also serve functions in education, preservation and research.
